I am an Osteopathic Physician with an emphasis on preventative care and women's health.  From newborns to the young-at-heart, my family medicine training allows me to see a full spectrum of patients.  When treating patients, I will ask myself how I would treat my own family.

After growing up on California's central coast, I attended UC Davis followed by medical school at UC Irvine.  I completed residency at Sutter Health in Sacramento, then stayed on with Sutter to practice full time and teach.  My interests include travel medicine, sports medicine, and dermatology.  Moving to Nevada County in 2012 brought my family closer to the Sierras that we have always loved.

I am a firm believer that the best medicine is information.  As an Osteopathic Family Physician, I work hard to improve patients' health through lifestyle changes.  When necessary, I use osteopathic manipulation to augment our treatment.  I view the doctor-patient relationship as a team.  You, the patients, are the directors, while I am an advisor.

I come from a huge family of 12 children (second oldest), which was very typical of Hmong families in the 90's. I've always had an interest in women's health, pediatrics, and adolescents. My love for medicine grew as I was taking care of my own family and continue to grow as I meet people in the medical field that reminds me of them. I am a huge believer of patient education and getting patients 100% involved in their own healthcare decision-making. My hobbies include spending time with my two daughters and my thoughtful husband. I also enjoy gardening whenever the time permits.

I have been in the Grass Valley and Nevada City area for twenty years.  I am Board Certified in Pediatrics with extensive additional training by my four children.  I am very active in school and youth sports, 4-H and Boy Scouts. I enjoy all aspects of hospital and outpatient pediatrics from birth through age twenty one.

Joyce Czuprynski, MD
Pediatrics

I have been a pediatrician for 13 years.  I have been in practice in Grass Valley with Sierra Care Pediatrics for the last eight years.  In that time I have had two children and have been working part-time in order to spend time with them.  My approach to medicine is a friendly and open one.  I welcome and encourage open discussions about parents' concerns.  In addition to general pediatrics, I have special interests in orthopedic injuries, childhood obesity prevention, and young adult female health.

Peter Harris, MD

I grew up in nearby Colfax and am excited to return to the area with my two small children. I attended Dartmouth Medical School, completed pediatrics training at UCLA, and spent time working abroad in Ecuador and Nicaragua. My special interests include sports medicine, obesity prevention, and local/global healthcare disparity.

Helping others has always been a part of my life.  As a teenager I was a Lifeguard, which led me to EMT training and working as a River Guide/Adventure Guide and Ski Patroller. Life then brought me to the Sierras and to my nursing career first as an RN at the University of Nevada Reno and now a Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain University. While most of my nursing experience has been in emergency care, I believe in a combination of preventative, holistic, and traditional medicine when caring for patients.
